Our Core Values are Demonstrated in our Work Every Day.
Accuracy: We have experienced and trained staff using the best non destructive equipment available to the market, we have robust procedures in place to ensure that our findings are accurate and peer reviewed. We have been put to the test on many occasions, we have not been found wanting and always stand behind our work.

Innovation: CSI is always looking for new and smarter ways to do things, we can develop our own technologies and applications, we have a very diverse toolkit and wide spectrum of technologies. We love a good challenge and will always find way to continuously improve our service.

Independence: We truly are independent and take our independence very seriously. We make sure to deliver factual, substantiated evidence and findings to allow you or your team to make the right decisions with confidence. CSI are not in the business of doing remediation so the only incentive that exists is providing accurate data.

Make the right decision and choose the CSI way.

Ultra Sonic Testing

1. What is Ultrasonic Testing?

Ultrasonic is an acoustic NDT technology where sound waves are being emitted and their reflections are being received and interpreted. The emitted sound waves, get partially or fully reflected on phases between materials of varying impedance. The reflected waves arrive at different times and with different energy levels. These differences enable a trained and experienced expert to draw conclusions about the inner of a structure and its condition. Ultrasonic gives the opportunity for providing preliminary inspection results and full analysis and detailed documentation.

2. When would you use Ultrasonic Testing?
-Inspection of reinforced concrete elements up to 1000mm thick, e.g. tunnel linings.
-Detection of delamination on bridge decks.
-Detection of voids in filled blocks.
-Grout fill of PT ducts for flaws.

Non Destructive Inspection

Non Destructive Testing involves the evaluation of existing structures without causing damage, with the intention of gaining a better understanding of key structural elements. A reliable structural condition assessment with CSI relies on rigorous observations and collecting accurate data so we can adequately describe the existing condition of the structure. Concrete Structure Investigations have award-winning expertise and the resources to provide you with accurate, independent and innovative non-destructive testing.

Why you May Need Non-Destructive Testing-
Scanning is the most frequently used NDT method within CSI, however, there are many others you can find on the CSI website www.csiscan.nz There are links below within concrete elements in order to determine their structural capacity.

Scanning is primarily used to determine the estimated size and layout of steel reinforcement within concrete elements in order to help determine their structural capacity.

Concrete structure investigations

1. What is Quality Assurance?
Quality assurance is necessary for successful building outcomes. Quality assurance of all work should occur at all stages throughout the building process, from project inception to final commissioning and handover.

This enables the early identification and remediation of any shortcomings in design and construction, resulting in efficiencies and savings in project delivery. It is also a very good way to demonstrate the quality of work.

For us QA would be NDT of key structural elements. We at CSI believe that having a real grasp on the way a building or structure is being built is paramount to any engineer, designer or owner. The use of early QA helps ensure that contractors and installers work to the highest possible standard.

2. When would you use Quality Assurance?
QA should be undertaken frequently and randomly throughout the entire construction stage for.

Concrete Scanning

Concrete Scanning for Non-destructive Concrete Investigations.
Our team use a variety of tools to further investigate the void, depth, utilities and reinforcements of any concrete surface. For example, the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) can be used to accurately locate steel reinforcement.

GPR is a rapid, cost-effective and 100% non-intrusive method. GPR can help inspectors and engineers verify the as-built reinforcement, identify top and bottom rebar locations (i.e. in slabs, and walls), and find the configuration of transverse reinforcement.

For example, if structural engineers need to verify the spacing of the reinforcement in the potential plastic hinging zone, GPR can help verify the spacing of the stirrups. GPR can also be used to identify the amount of concrete cover over the reinforcement. Additionally, the use of a Ferroscanner Cover Meter verifies concrete cover and identifies ties in brick walls.
